Der 12. Danube Participation Day brachte am 4. November 2025 in Sarajevo Vertreterinnen und Vertreter aus Zivilgesellschaft, Politik und lokalen Gemeinschaften zusammen. Im Mittelpunkt standen die entscheidende Rolle lokaler Akteure für die EU-Politikgestaltung sowie ihre Bedeutung im Erweiterungsprozess. Durch Podiumsdiskussionen, World-Café-Workshops und die Danube Day Agora wurde deutlich, wie vielfältig und wirkungsvoll das Engagement in den Gemeinden des Donauraums ist – und wie sehr europäische Integration auf lokal verankerte Initiativen basiert.

Das Projekt SMILE Incubator lädt Jugendliche aus ländlichen Regionen der Donauregion ein, an einer Umfrage über soziale Netzwerke, Führung und Engagement teilzunehmen. Ziel ist es, die Situation junger Menschen besser zu verstehen und neue Wege für Beteiligung und regionale Entwicklung zu eröffnen.

Am 26. September fand in Bulgarien der dritte Nationale Beteiligungstag (National Participation Day) zur EU-Donauraumstrategie statt. Die Veranstaltung, organisiert vom Bürgerbeteiligungsforum in Kooperation mit dem Danube Civil Society Forum und Foster Europe, bot eine Plattform für Austausch, Information und neue Impulse zur Beteiligung von Bürger:innen und Organisationen an der Umsetzung der Strategie.

Foster Europe and the Danube Civil Society Forum (DCSF) is also supporting the “Stand up for Europe and Democracy – A Sign of Unity” campaign within the Fit 4 Democracy project led by ILEU e.V., a founding member of the DCSF. The initiative invites people across Europe to join a participatory photo action, creating a digital mosaic that highlights solidarity, peace, and shared democratic values.

The National Participation Day (NPD) has been awarded the prestigious Danube Strategy Flagship certificate, marking a significant step in fostering regional cooperation within the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR). As a national platform for structured civil society dialogue, the NPD strengthens collaboration between public actors and stakeholders, enabling valuable exchanges on ongoing projects and funding opportunities. This recognition highlights the NPD's crucial role in enhancing economic, social, and territorial cohesion across the Danube Region.
