Standing Together for Europe and Democracy
At Foster Europe (and also as part of the Danube Civil Society Forum (DCSF), we are proud to join the international campaign “Stand up for Europe and Democracy – A Sign of Unity.” This initiative is part of the wider Fit 4 Democracy project coordinated by ILEU e.V., one of the founding members of the DCSF.
The campaign continues a line of creative, people-centered projects. Some may recall “Bread Connects – Give a Sign of Friendship”, where bread symbolized how something ordinary can become a bridge between cultures and communities. That spirit of connection now carries over into a new action focused on Europe’s democratic values.
A simple idea, a strong message
The concept is straightforward: people across Europe are invited to visibly declare their commitment to democracy and unity. To participate, simply download the flyer “I stand up for Europe and democracy”, take a picture holding it, and send the image together with the consent form to democracy@ileu.net.
All contributions will be combined into a digital mosaic that illustrates how diverse citizens from all over the continent are united by shared values of peace, participation, and solidarity. This collective artwork will be presented online, across social media, and at public events connected to the Fit 4 Democracy project.
Why it matters
Every individual photo is more than an image – it is a personal statement of belonging and responsibility. Together, they demonstrate that European civil society is not only present, but vibrant, diverse, and engaged.
We encourage all who believe in a democratic and inclusive Europe to take part in this initiative. By joining, you help strengthen a common voice for freedom, community, and cooperation.
