On 10 June 2026, Timișoara hosted "Romania's Path to Democracy," the Romanian local event of the FREI project, bringing together 90 young participants from four countries for a day of creative workshops and debate on democracy, inclusion and European values. A highlight was Fr. Assoc. Prof. Constantin Jinga, PhD — a participant in the 1989 Romanian Revolution — showing the bullet-holed jacket he wore when he was shot during the uprising, alongside Roma youth advocate Larisa Hapiuc's testimony on overcoming discrimination through education. The event strengthened participants' understanding of Romania's democratic transformation and the EU's role in promoting human rights and inclusion.
