Austria's path to the European Union

On 23 June 2026, the FREI project's Austrian National Path event brought together historical remembrance and contemporary dialogue in Vienna. Students from Gymnasium Neusiedl am See explored the site of the former NS "Central Office for Jewish Emigration" before joining a public discussion at the Bruno Kreisky Forum on Austria's path to EU membership and women's experiences of democratic transition in Spain — connecting the hard work of confronting the past with the ongoing project of European integration.
