  • Sofia University Aula Magna, Sofia University Faculty of Geology and Geographics (Karte)

The future of EU funding and regional development is currently being reshaped. As discussions on the next EU programming period gain momentum, ensuring meaningful stakeholder participation in planning and decision-making has become more important than ever.

On 2 November 2026, the 13th Danube Participation Day in Sofia, Bulgaria, will bring together representatives of civil society, public authorities, academia and other stakeholders to explore how the Partnership Principle can strengthen cooperation, democratic participation and regional impact across the Danube Region.

As an official side event of the 15th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), this year’s conference will focus on the role of the Partnership Principle in ensuring that diverse voices are meaningfully involved in the planning, implementation and monitoring of future development policies and funding programmes.

Participants can look forward to expert discussions, interactive exchange formats, networking opportunities and the Danube Participation Agora, offering space for dialogue, collaboration and the sharing of practical experiences from across the region.

Whether you represent civil society, public administration, academia, business or a regional network, the event provides an opportunity to connect with peers and contribute to discussions on the future of participation in the Danube Region.
